Costume Trainee

Scottish Opera’s Costume Department is offering a trainee position to an enthusiastic person with qualifications in theatre costume making, or experience of working in theatre wardrobe.


This position is supported by Elizabeth Salvesen and part of our Emerging Artists programme. The successful candidate will receive training from our senior staff, and will gain practical experience in all areas of the company’s costume department:

  • Making traditional men and womenswear costumes in the workroom.
  • Costume maintenance, dressing and touring in the Running Wardrobe department.
  • Costume storage and organisation in our hire department.
  • Costume Supervision and budgeting for a small Scottish Opera production.

The contract is based at Scottish Opera’s Production Studios at Edington Street, at the Theatre Royal Glasgow, and on tour with the company.
