Experience Opportunity

Festival Volunteer Programme

An unforgettable summer at the very heart of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe awaits!

The Pleasance Festival Volunteer Programme offers people of all backgrounds and ambitions the opportunity to enhance their skills, grow confidence, network and gain experience in the arts.

Volunteers play an important part in the daily operation of the Pleasance’s venues at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. The Pleasance runs 30 performance spaces across 3 venues.

The following roles are available:

- Venue Crew (Technical)

- Venue Crew Lead (Technical)

- Box Office Operator (Guest Services)

- Front of House Assistant (Guest Services)

- Arts Industry Officer (Industry Services)

- Press Officer (Industry Services)

- Street Team (Marketing)

- Digital Content Creator (Marketing)

Further information on each role can be found in the Information Pack below. Each role involves genuine responsibilities with the support of team members already working in the industry.

The Programme runs from the end of July to the start of September:

- Technical department: Start 27th July and end 31st August

- Guest, Industry and Marketing department: Start 28th July and end 31st August

All volunteers in the Programme receive the following:

- A payment of no less than £580 to reimburse legitimate out-of-pocket expenses

- Free single occupancy accommodation 20 to 25 minutes walk to the venues

- A Pleasance ID pass giving free entry to any show in the Pleasance programme

- Invitations to team events and get-togethers

- Access to training opportunities and information sessions

There is no fixed deadline for applications and interviews continue until all vacancies are filled.

We encourage you to make an application as early as possible within our application timeline to increase your chance of being shortlisted. You can apply later, right up until the Programme starts, but the number of vacancies available decreases the closer we are to the start of the Programme. You can apply after the Programme has started as we sometimes have vacancies during the Programme, but this is less common.

The Pleasance is a place where journeys begin; built by us, but made unforgettable by you.

We hope you’ll join us.
