Experience Opportunity

Musical Theatre: Audition Preparation (16+) Summer School

Auditioning can be a nerve-wracking and daunting experience, particularly for those coming to it for the first time. This five-day in-person summer school is for people who are considering applying to audition for Musical Theatre degree programmes and aims to introduce the audition process and build student’s confidence.

Throughout the summer school students will receive lessons in singing, dance and acting with experienced musical theatre practitioners from the Royal Conservatoire.

This course will benefit people who are considering auditioning for vocational musical theatre courses or for performers who wish to improve their performance technique and confidence when attending professional auditions.

By the end of the summer school students should have:

- Gained an overview of audition and interview processes

- Developed technical and creative performance skills including specialist voice work

- Explored how to successfully select and prepare pieces for audition

- Deepened understanding of texts and songs which they have selected and prepared

- Received advice on preparing self-tapes for audition

- Taken part in a mock audition in front of a panel and received individual feedback
