Do you have a passion for playwriting? Aged 14 – 19? Already begun your writing journey and are looking to hone your craft? Our free online writing course could be for you.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This five session course will help you develop practical tools and skills to focus your ideas and turn them into theatre.  Professional playwrights will lead and support you to gain a deeper understanding of the playwriting process, and you will receive feedback on an early draft of your work.

This is part of our New Views playwriting programme for young people across the UK, happening in-schools, at the National Theatre and online. At the end of the course, you’ll have the opportunity to submit a short play to the New Views Festival.

COURSE RECRUITMENT:

• This course is free to take part in.
• It will take place online and therefore we will prioritise applications from people living in the UK outside London - We encourage anyone living in London to apply for our in-person Writers' Room Course, taking place at the National Theatre from September 2026. (Applications will open shortly.)
• Support is available for applicants with access requirements and those who require financial assistance with digital equipment needed to participate.
