The NSDF LAB brings together young people from across the country to create new work and new creative communities.
The aim is to make pieces of work which will feature at NSDF22.
NSDF LAB is free and open to all 16-25 year-olds.
Last year NSDF LAB created 5 new pieces of work for NSDF21, ranging from finished shows to work in progress pieces and rehearsed readings. We made new communities of people who had never met before. Many of these new companies and artists are continuing to work together even after the completion of NSDF21. All of the work was mentored through the process by our Associates.
Because of the pandemic, all the work for NSDF21 was digital.
The first stage of NSDF LAB this year will be mentored by Grace Smart, Chris Thorpe, Elin Schofield and Ali Pidsley.
Stage 1 of NSDF Lab is about putting together a group of young artists, and via zoom run a mentored programme in which we create work that can be taken forward for NSDF22.
How to apply
We want to find out a little about you. So we’d like you to do two things for us.
First tell us your area of interest: whether it be directing, devising, designing, writing or something else.
Then we’d like you to tell us about something you love.
You can do this in any form you like.
You can make a video, a voice note, write something, do a sketch. Up to you.
The only rule is brevity: if it’s a video or a voice note then it must be shorter than one minute. If it’s written down or sketched then it can only cover one sheet of paper, or one side of A4.
Send your application to us at firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 14th June at 5pm.
Can’t wait to hear from you!
