Trainee Theatre Technician
As part of Coventry UK City of Culture 2021, Belgrade Theatre have teamed up with award-winning new writing company, Paines Plough to present Roundabout – a pop-up theatre presenting a collection of national and local plays and offering a civic space where activities are curated by the community in which it sits.
We are looking for two Technical Trainees to support the get in, build and technical needs of the Roundabout structure and programme when it comes to Wood End in Coventry this summer.
This is an entry-level role for those with a keen interest in growing skills in these areas. During the time on this project, the Technical Trainees will be supported by Belgrade Technical Team, Paines Plough Technical Team and experienced production crew. They will have access to learning in areas of rigging, technical theatre, Heath & Safety and more.
The Technical Trainees must be available for all get in/out, tech and performance dates. This role is 35 hours per week and requires some evening and weekend work.

Willingness to learn

Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Accuracy and attention to detail, with the commitment to produce work of the highest standard while working with minimum supervision or as part of a team
Excellent team worker, with good communication and interaction skills and reliability
Interest in using lighting equipment and sound systems including their operation and setup, and in learning to interpret drawings and plans
Ability to work evenings or at weekends as required
Ability to work at height and a reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required due to the physical nature of the post.

Understanding of working in a producing theatre/theatre company or equivalent
Understanding in the use and programming of lighting desks
Understanding in the use of digital sound desks
Understanding of software for sound and video playback, preferably QLAB
Understanding of crewing performances
Awareness of relevant Health & Safety issues
Full, clean Driving Licence
