Experience Opportunity

World Stage

Welcome to World Stage, a brand new summer holiday drama project! Step onto the grand stage with Open Doors and embark on a thrilling journey through the rich tapestry of theatrical history. Led by experienced actor and drama facilitator Claire Finn, and Open Doors Creative Arts Officer, Milly Lawson, this 5-week experience promises to ignite your passion for performance.

Explore the ancient grandeur of Greek theatre, the captivating traditions of Asian drama, and the lively antics of Commedia Dell’arte. You'll dive headfirst into an exploration of theatrical styles. As well as studying history, you’ll harness these timeless techniques to shed light on issues including climate change and environmental activism.

Get ready to unleash your creativity as you devise and perform your own pieces, weaving together the threads of ancient artistry with contemporary relevance. Along the way, you'll uncover the secrets of mask work and and craft your own mask for the stage.

Participants also can achieve a Trinity College London Bronze Arts Award, a recognized level 1 qualification that celebrates your journey into the arts. World Stage is perfect for young people who are interested in drama, but no experience is necessary.

So, if you’re a Newark and Sherwood resident aged between 12-18 years old, don't miss out on this FREE opportunity to learn the art of theatre and become a part of this living, breathing tradition. Join us on World Stage and let your talents shine!
