When you have been part of the close community of dance professionals, the world outside the theatre can be a difficult place. Whether this is as a result of unexpected events, temporary problems, or longer term issues, if you are experiencing financial difficulties.
When you have been part of the close community of dance professionals, the world outside the theatre can be a lonely place. Perhaps you have just retired, or maybe your career has ended prematurely, or maybe you have just had some unexpected difficulties.
You can go to Dance Professionals Fund when you are having financial issues. It may just be an overdue phone bill, or it may be a more long-term problem, for instance if you have had to stop work due to health issues.
One-off grants may be awarded for the purchase of essential household items, for medical costs or for living expenses. Regular payments can be offered on a short term basis, depending on need, and subject to review.
The Fund cannot however, replace statutory funding, if the applicant is entitled to it. If you are not sure if you are either eligible for state support, or are claiming all the benefits you are entitled to, the Fund is able to advise you.
Please note: the Fund will not normally pay off debts or credit card bills, and does not have the facility to offer loans to applicants.
The Fund can support you in other ways, helping you to keep in touch with the world of dance. Sometimes, our help needs to be no more than a chat on the phone, or the occasional home visit if someone is housebound.
Please don't hesitate to contact the fund if you think you need help of any kind, or if you know of someone who does. You'll get a sympathetic ear and honest, constructive advice. The Fund will always do whatever it can for dancers and former dancers in need.
