Richard Attenborough Scholarships

Richard Attenborough was one of the most successful actors and directors in the history of British and international film.

From his extraordinary performances in Brighton Rock and 10 Rillington Place, to his epic, award-winning Ghandi and the intimate and powerful drama Shadowlands, Lord Attenborough was a giant of the moving image and one of most respected and admired members of the Film industry.

He was acutely aware of the problems that many in our industry face, at any stage of their career. He served as a patron of both The CTBF (now The Film & Television Charity) and the National Film and Television School, which helps develop emerging talent.

Nik Powell, Director of the National Film and Television School said:

“Lord Attenborough was a unique force of nature; his passion and deep humanity shined through in his films, as well as the huge contribution he made to the industry and education, especially at the NFTS and it is a fitting tribute to him that he and his support is remembered through these scholarships.”

It is designed to help towards tuition fees for students who want to attend the National Film and Television School (NFTS).

Each year, we support two students with a scholarship award to study for an MA at the world-renowned National Film and Television School.

Through the scholarship, we’re helping support the next generation of screen craft professionals as they embark on the early stages of their career. And that could be you.
