The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarship for the Birkbeck MFA Theatre Directing programme

The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarship will support an emerging director from an under-represented and disadvantaged socio-economic background to undertake the Theatre Directing programme at Birkbeck, University of London.

The Scholarship is for £20,000 over two years of training, to cover the course fees and to provide some funds towards the costs of study.

The Scholarship will be awarded to one director who can demonstrate their potential as a future theatre director and evidence their need for financial support. Birkbeck welcomes applications from all sections of the community and will especially welcome applications from theatre directors from under-represented backgrounds.

The Scholarship is open to those who have been resident in the UK for the past three years and who intend to pursue a career in the UK theatre industry on completion of the training.

The Scholarship will be awarded as part of an application to the Birkbeck MFA Theatre Directing programme and applications for the scholarship should be made as part of that of application via the link below.

The deadline for applications to the programme and for the Scholarship is 12 noon on 2nd May 2021 for interviews in June 2021 and early June 2021. Those successful in being offered a place on the MFA Theatre Directing will then be interviewed for the Scholarship in early July 2021.

Please do not make applications directly to the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation as they will not be considered.
