Training Opportunity

Sixth Form in Musical Theatre

Our Two-Year Sixth Form course offers a top quality alternative to A Levels and gives our students a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative and Performing Arts (Verified by RSL) which is the equivalent to 'A Levels' (and up to 168 UCAS Points). Our full time vocational course runs from September to July each academic year and focuses on exceptional training in Singing, dancing and acting, working towards consolidating technical and performance skills alongside a small amount of course work with just under 50 hours of practical tuition per week including a weekly one-to-one singing lesson.

Using our direct links within the industry , our aim is for all our students to either obtain a place on their chosen course at their desired performing arts institution or obtain professional work within the industry by the end of the two years tuition.

Each year includes two performance opportunities at the nearby Malthouse Theatre in Canterbury, including a full-scale musical production in July to give our students the chance to experience a professional rehearsal process.

A typical day at JGHA starts at 8:30am with a company warm up and include Ballet,Jazz, Acting, voice and singing finishing at 5:30pm. Students also have classes in Tap, Contemporary, Commercial, Musicianship, Audition technique, Acting through song and Acrobatics.
