Young Technicians 2023-24
Applications are open for Stratford East's Young Technicians Course, run in partnership with RADA & Backstage Niche.
The FREE 12-week introductory training course offers 16–21-year-olds the opportunity to develop practical skills in stage management, lighting and sound with industry professionals. No experience necessary.
The programme runs from November to February and is designed for young people living and/or studying in Newham and the surrounding East London boroughs (Hackney, Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets, Greenwich, Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham, Havering).
The course aims to address the imbalance and underrepresentation of backstage professionals from the Global Majority and lower socio-economic backgrounds, those who are care experienced, who identify as female, non-binary, trans, deaf and Disabled, and those from areas of low arts engagement.
We believe it’s crucial to create opportunities for young people to engage with artists that culturally and socially represent them.
Participants must be aged 16-21, live or study in East London and be interested in backstage theatre.
We encourage applications from participants that are underrepresented in theatre, including those who are care experienced, from the global majority, are deaf or disabled, identify as female, non-binary or trans, and those from areas of low arts engagement.
