Momentum is our new programme for artists, offering a boost to creative projects in varying stages of development. Across five months we’ll bring together a cohort of 4-6 theatre makers, creating an artistic community to facilitate peer support, develop devising skills, and foster creative and producing feedback.
The Momentum cohort will be invited to present a work-in-progress sharing of a piece they are currently developing as part of a scratch night at Bristol Old Vic’s Weston Studio in January 2026.
The programme will also include conversations with industry leaders, peer support and feedback sessions, a group workshop and one-to-one mentoring sessions with our Co-Artistic Directors Nir Paldi and George Mann, and Associate Artist, Elisabeth Gunawan.
What does it include?
- A slot to present a work in progress as part of the MOMENTUM scratch night at Bristol Old Vic’s Weston Studio on Monday 19 January 2026
- 3 x 90-minute 1:1 mentoring sessions (online or in-person) with our Artistic Directors Nir and George
- 2 x 2-hour Cohort online gatherings, facilitated by Associate Artist Elisabeth Gunawan
- 1 x skills development workshop
- Guest talks with industry leaders
- A £750 stipend to contribute towards expenses
Who is it for?
- Theatremakers from a devising and physical-led training background
- Those from historically marginalised backgrounds or who are underrepresented in the cultural sector
- Creatives with an interest in exploring social and political questions and themes
- Artists who create theatre led by questions, going beyond a focus on aesthetic and performance forms
- Early to mid-career artists (we realise these terms are ambiguous, and believe Momentum would be most valuable for those with a track record of completing a project from start to finish, including sharing it with an audience, who are also hungry for some mentorship to get to the next level of their practice)
- Theatremakers who demonstrate integrity, maturity, and a commitment to respectful and equitable working practices
