Open to individuals based across the country, the programme supports emerging producers to develop the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to transition into commercial theatre producing. Participants will be part of a supportive cohort of peers, have sessions delivered by indsutry leaders and have access to Stage One's annual workshops. Bridge the Gap exists to address barriers to entry and to help create a more diverse and representative producing workforce.
Stage One recognises its responsibility to remain actively committed to diversity by amplifying voices across the industry, deepening its understanding through continuous learning and ensuring diverse stories are told on stage and reflected in its audiences.
Participants develop their producing skills, build a portfolio of work and gain a deeper understanding of how the commercial theatre industry operates. The programme also provides opportunities to expand professional networks and connect with industry practitioners.
The programme is for individuals who are aiming to work in commercial theatre producing and already have some experience in theatre.
This might include:
- Assisting on productions
- Leading small-scale or independent projects
- Working within the subsidised theatre sector
It is particularly suited to those who have not previously worked in a commercial producing office or who face barriers to accessing the industry.
