Aged 16-25.
Intermission Youth’s flagship Youth Theatre Programme provides creative training and personal support for young people aged 16-25.
Taking part in the Youth Theatre Programme provides year-round access to Club Intermission, our community-based programme of bi-weekly Wednesday evening sessions. Excellence, on stage or in life, starts with confidence, trusting your voice and feeling that you belong in every room. Club Intermission creates the space for this.
Main Programme:
The main programme runs for 12 weeks during either the spring or summer term. Led by dramatically trained former participants, each workshop introduces the cohort to approaches used by renowned theatre practitioners. Shakespeare’s text is also central to the work, helping young people reinterpret and reclaim stories they may once have felt were not for them, while bringing their own experiences and perspectives to classical theatre.
Each term welcomes up to 40 young people and ends with a live showcase, giving participants the opportunity to put their learning into practice in front of an audience.
Participants who show passion, commitment and embody Intermission Youth’s values may also progress to the advanced pathway by auditioning for the end-of-year professional production.
No audition and no previous acting experience is needed to join.
Eligibility:
Our programmes are open to everyone, but because places are limited, we prioritise young people who may face additional barriers. This includes young people from the following groups:
