Free writing and performance workshops

Young Identity run free workshops every week throughout Manchester and Trafford for young creatives aged 13 - 25. With regular attendance, you’ll get access to specialist workshops, creative projects and performance opportunities.

HOME - Mondays 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

  • About: Hosted in one of the most eclectic art centres in Manchester. Explore different themes and poetic techniques, analysing existing works to expand their practice across both written and performance forms.
  • Age: 13 - 25

Central Library - Tuesdays 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

  • About: In partnership with the Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Education Trust. It gives access to archives, stories and canons from writers of colour, looking at form, performance, storytelling and broadening knowledge of Global Majority artists.
  • Age: 13 - 25

Old Trafford - Wednesdays 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

  • About: Explore poetry and performance through activities and discussion. A supportive environment where regardless of experience you can develop skills and share work with confidence.
  • Age: 13 - 25
  • Location: OT Creative Space, 27 Ayres Road, M16 9W

Respect and Dignity - Mondays 6:00 PM - 7:45 PM

  • About: In partnership with Respect and Dignity Arts, writing about heritage and community with a focus on the experiences of a new generation defining their place in present times.
  • Age: 13 - 18
  • Location: Victoria Park Pavilion Cafe, Nelson, BB9 7SS

Verse and Vibe - Tuesdays 6:00 PM - 7:45 PM

  • About: In partnership with Respect and Dignity Arts, a group for young women to develop their voices through spoken word poetry, celebrating the strength and diversity of young women's experiences.
  • Age: 16 - 24
  • Location: Victoria Park Pavilion Cafe, Nelson, BB9 7SS
