This summer we are expanding our usual summer provision into a two week training and performance course for young people.
With one week spent building skills and community, before we dive into intensive rehearsals for a fresh take on a modern play in week two. Performances will be hosted at a local professional venue. It promises to be an unforgettable summer, free of charge!

Live in West London and interested in backstage and technical roles for screen and stage?
The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre and the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) are looking for young people aged 16-21 who live in West London to take part in Future Technicians, a free two week technical theatre course! This course is designed to provide hands-on experience in both screen and stage technical production. Our cohort will gain insight into film and theatre production, working with industry professionals to create high-quality content and live performances.
We are particularly interested in hearing from young people from the global majority, young people who are D/deaf and disabled, young people from low-income households (measured by access to Free School Meals in the last 6 years) and young people in care / care leavers as we recognise these groups are currently underrepresented in the technical theatre industries
Rose Players is our introductory acting group open for anyone aged over 18. We welcome actors of all ages and experience to take part in classes that focus on professional-process and technique.
Perhaps you’ve never acted before, or perhaps you are returning to it. All you need is enthusiasm and to be able to commit to the classes over the course of the term. We explore major practitioners, methods of working on different styles of text, improvisation and vocal techniques that are applicable to many different areas of life.
The course is directed by Anthony Hoskyns, an actor and director who is currently working toward his MFA in Directing at Birkbeck University London. Anthony has worked professionally as an actor for 8 years having graduated with a BA in Acting from Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has been directing for us at the Rose for 5 years. When appropriate, guest directors may also work with you on specialist skills and there will be an informal showing of your work at the end of term.
Whether you are thinking about professional training or you're an enthusiastic amateur, this is a great way to spend your Monday evenings.
Rose Young Company is our performance-based course. It demands huge commitment and full attendance, but the rewards are worth it. Our Junior students (age 11-14) learn about theatre through text, technique and improvisation, whilst our Lower Seniors (14 - 15) and Upper Seniors (16 - 21) work as ensembles on psychological realism and maturity. Recent performances include The Hunting of the Snark, Junkyard, Robin Hood, and As You Like It.
Rose Young Company students rehearse hard and perform to the public each term, working on classics, adaptations, new writing and screen plays. Within small ensembles, our actors learn an extraordinary level of discipline to compliment professional process and technique.
