“Create” funds the development and creation of high-quality arts experiences that help creative individuals and organisations engage with and connect to the public

“Create” is about providing opportunities for individuals and organisations to produce and present their best work. This can mean funding the production and presentation of work, the development of new ideas and / or supporting individual or organisations to develop through training or business growth and change

“Create” supports our priorities as set out in our corporate plan, “For the Benefit of All”. This programme area will help us to meet our priorities around equalities, diversity, the Welsh language, nurturing creative talent and supporting sector resilience

We can accept applications for funding of between £500 and £50,000 (£100,000 in exceptional circumstances for organisations including festivals by prior agreement with your Development Officer).

We’re able to accept applications of up to £10,000 at any time. Please bear in mind that you need to allow a minimum of 6 working weeks between the date you submitted your application and the start date for your project. For applications over £10,000, check our website for the deadlines.

Collaboration between musicians and creatives such as lighting designers, choreographers and visual artists can make music even more powerful. However, financing these activities can be a barrier to making them a reality, which is why Help Musicians can provide financial support to help develop new ideas and create a collaborative end product with music at its heart.

Musicians can apply for up to £5,000 to undertake a UK-based collaboration between themselves and another non-music artists, for example storytellers, lighting designers, choreographers, technologists, scientists, gaming designers, theatre directors, visual artists etc.

There should be tangible results of the collaboration, such as a body of work created for an upcoming recording or a new performance. Ultimately, the project should push the boundaries of what you do as a music creator or performer, exploring or testing something that you are not currently able to achieve without support.

Help Musicians can support you to create new music and share it with the world. Whether it’s studio time, mastering, or promotion around a release, we can help you to record and release your music.

This support focuses not only on your music creation, but on your wellbeing and long-term business development.

Awardees receive:
- up to £3,000 in financial support towards creative output

- one-to-one business advice sessions tailored to your needs and delivered via experienced music industry professionals

- personal health consultation with British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM), covering all aspects of your physical and mental health, with specialist referrals where required

Musicians at any point in their career can really benefit from learning new skills, taking time to hone their craft or working with peers and mentors to grow and develop as creators.

This strand of support can provide up to £1,500 to help you take advantage of opportunities that enhance your skills or artistic practice, available whenever you need it. This could be a virtual conference to learn more about the industry, an online course to enhance your skills, one-to-one coaching or an online masterclass with an expert, or perhaps some time to work with a mentor.

This support is specific to your career needs, so you can specify opportunities relevant to your own circumstances and ambitions. - whatever you need to feel confident in making your next move.

Level 2 introduces the learner to carpentry and joinery skills. It allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in carpentry or joinery.

On successful completion of the course students can progress on to a level 3 (T-Level) qualification in this subject, T-Level in Design, Surveying and Architecture or into employment in a related area.

An excellent introduction to the basics of woodwork skills.

This is a dynamic and versatile course that will enable you to become a well-rounded creative art student and offers you the opportunity to explore and develop your artistic practice across a broad range of Art and Design specialisms. Units studied have a strong emphasis on experimentation and exploration allowing them to be tailored to your individual specialist practice.

You will have access to a range of facilities including studio spaces, printmaking workshops, textiles workshops, photography studios and state of the art equipment. To help you apply your skills you will be encouraged where possible to engage with the industry through competitions, live briefs, community work and employer engagement. Tutors are experienced and still work within the industry as artists and designers.

You will also have the opportunity to go on art based trips to places such as Liverpool, London and Berlin.

In year 1 you will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of materials, techniques and processes to enable you to build a strong set of skills and knowledge across the areas.

In year 2 you will focus more on your chosen specialist area to create a strong portfolio of work accumulating in and end of year exhibition that is open to the public. During the course you will be guided through your progression options through talks, university visits and meeting ex-students. You will be supported through your UCAS application by our experienced team.

Level up your skills in Theatrical and Media Makeup with a Level 3 qualification at Hugh Baird College. This is a technical qualification for anyone that wants to pursue a career providing hair and Makeup services in the film, TV, theatre and fashion industries. Push your creative boundaries and explore your options in this exciting space.

You’ll advance on the skills learned in the Media Makeup Level 2 course, with new technical modules including media Makeup, wigs and creative prosthetics (SFX). This course delves into fashion and editorial styles, where you’ll add skills like camouflage (covering up scars and tattoos), theatrical Makeup, period hair and Makeup, and advanced face and body art to your portfolio. You’ll also get to grips with current tools and equipment, with a focus on airbrushing to high industry standards.

The Level 3 Theatrical and Media Makeup course balances practical learning with theory. The theory arm comprises health and safety, anatomy and physiology, and cosmetic Makeup science.

A favourite unit among students, you’ll get the opportunity to build a total character. You’ll bring a particular concept to life, taking ownership of everything from face casting to sculpting, and creating and applying prosthetic pieces. You’ll be expected to blend your character’s face with Makeup and a wig or bald cap, and present your work in your portfolio.

Hugh Baird College students get the opportunity to take part in regional competitions across a range of categories, including bridal Makeup, editorial Makeup, face and body art, and face painting.

Beyond the classroom, you’ll get to visit art galleries and theatres for character development inspiration. We’re big on community at Hugh Baird College, so you can get involved in local events to see how they run, such as Halloween events and shows in Sefton Park.

Whether your ambitions are on stage or backstage, Theatre, Acting & Performance at Worcester is all about practical work. You learn theory through practice - in a wide range of venues, including our own drama studios, other local arts or theatre venues, unusual spaces such as nightclubs or disused churches, festivals, outdoor spaces and gardens. If you choose to, you can also have a work placement with a theatre, school or production company, or work within modules with youth or community groups, such as people with learning disabilities

As well as developing your acting skills, devising or writing your own performances and staging existing plays, you'll also cover the technical and practical side of the theatre experience, learning how to rig a light, for example. Furthermore, your wider study of the subject can prepare you for a wide range of careers alongside one in theatre (acting, directing, writing or technical theatre), such as teaching, or youth and community work.

Our Musical Theatre curriculum provides a complete practical training experience for students interested in performance. Based at the Millennium Studios in London, the course’s core disciplines are dance, singing and acting, with a focus on excellence in Musical theatre practice.

You will gain high-level skill sets in practice to shape your performance abilities as well as your contextual understanding, preparing you for work, immediately upon graduation. All of our students are taught by highly-experienced industry professionals who are passionate about teaching the next generation of performers. Millennium Performing Arts produces graduates that have the knowledge and confidence to make a significant contribution to whatever discipline they undertake, either as performers or in later life, as teachers, directors or producers.
