The course develops diverse skills in the world of make-up and hair to produce flexible creative make-up artists able to work in a variety of areas of the industry from special effects to fashion and from live events to film TV and stage productions.

This course prepares you for a career as a make-up artist in television film theatre prosthetics advertising and fashion with a special focus on creating convincing and realistic special effects. It gives you the techniques craft skills and specialist knowledge employers are looking for.

You learn to research and realise characters through hair and wig setting; postiche; costume; prop design; prosthetics; and designing effects make-up.

This course consists of an exciting rage of performance, composition, theoretical and contextual units that will provide you with exciting experiences whilst you develop industry relevant skills and abilities

You will spend time preparing materials and rehearsing both individually and as a member of a group as well as researching your subject, writing reports and essays, presenting your findings and keeping a practice and development journal.

The UAL L3 Diploma and Extended Diploma have been designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the media sector

You will study the L3 Diploma in the first year progressing onto the Extended Diploma in the second year building an impressive portfolio of work that could support progression into higher education.

A pass in this course will enable you to study Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology
