Looking to hone your stage skills? Whether you’re interested in acting, dancing, or just performing on stage, this weekly Theatre Drop-In gives you space to stay creative, build confidence, and explore new approaches to performance.
Each session offers a fresh focus, from improv and ensemble work to devising and cabaret. Led by experienced facilitators who’ll help you experiment, play, and develop your craft in a supportive, relaxed environment. You can join every week or drop in whenever you can – each session stands alone.
WHAT DO I GET BY TAKING PART?
WHO IS TEACHING THE PROJECT?
Phao May is a Movement Director, Director, Choreographer and Facilitator, working across stage and screen in London. She attained a foundation in Acting from RADA in 2014, and later an MA in Movement Directing and Teaching from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2022. She has collaborated with Soho Theatre, The Bush, and National Youth Theatre and created work for Edinburgh Fringe and The Vaults. Her creative work spans plays, devised work, commercials, music videos and live comedy, working with trained actors and musicians, community groups and comedians.
Isaac Jordan is a theatre director, writer and facilitator. His work focuses on the intersection of community heritage, theatre and storytelling: exploring ways to celebrate and strengthen everyday communities. As well as working with the Roundhouse, he has collaborated with organisations including the Natural History Museum, SPID Theatre, the Pink Singers, UCL, Half Moon Theatre and Richmond Theatre.
Plus guests! We will also have guest tutors for some sessions who will bring their expertise from different elements of theatre and performance.
DO I NEED ANY PARTICULAR SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE TO TAKE PART?
You don’t need any specific skills, but this will be most relevant to people who have done at least a bit of theatre or dance before. Open to all levels – we welcome back people who have attended previous terms.
HOW TO JOIN:
This is a drop in session, just come to the front desk of Roundhouse Studios and pay £2 on arrival. It’s first come first serve with limited spaces so we ask that you arrive fifteen minutes before the start time at the latest to sign in. Latecomers will be admitted only if there is space.

Ready to bring theatre’s most iconic showdowns to life safely? From the dramatic to the comedic, this half-term project will teach you the fundamentals of stage combat and how to use them to perform some of Shakespeare’s best-known scenes.
You don’t need to be an expert in Shakespeare to take part or have any previous combat experience. Our facilitators will guide your own discovery of the world of Shakespeare and art of stage combat!

Are you passionate about theatre and curious about what it takes to work in the industry? Join Edinburgh Playhouse for an exciting week-long programme designed for young people aged 14–18 who want to explore the many career opportunities available both on and off the stage.
Learn directly from industry professionals about a wide range of theatre careers, including:
Participants will enjoy a combination of practical workshops, industry talks, Q&A sessions, live theatre experiences, and hands-on work experience. Taking place alongside Jersey Boys, this unique opportunity includes a chance to watch the production and hear from members of the team working behind the scenes to bring the show to life.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME:
The aim of this week is to inspire the next generation of theatre-makers and artists by showcasing the many pathways into the industry. From the talent seen on stage to the skilled professionals working behind the scenes, participants will gain a deeper understanding of what goes into creating productions and running a successful theatre.
PROVISIONAL SCHEDULE:
Times: Approximately 10:30am–4:00pm each day, with later finishes on show days. Thursdays and Saturdays are likely to finish around 5:00pm. Schedule will be sent out to participants at least 1 week in advance

Cost: £225.00 per participant

Our Writer’s Programme here at Theatre503 is focused on upskilling writers of all experience levels throughout the theatre industry and beyond. Facilitated by industry leaders, including 503 Alumni & 503 team members; our courses, masterclasses and intensives offer a vast range of topics to give every writer something to choose from. We offer a mix of in person & online sessions, making it accessible to writers both locally and throughout the globe.

Southwark-based artists are able to apply for free use of Canada Water Theatre to support the development of creative ideas through rehearsals and closed R&Ds.

REWRITES champions bold new musicals that are ready to connect with audiences across the country, recognising touring as a crucial stage in a show's development. By enabling productions to test, refine and strengthen their work in front of diverse audiences nationwide, REWRITES creates a clear pathway for ambitious new musicals, combining direct financial support with in-kind expertise from some of the UK's leading theatre organisations.
Initiated by Lowry in 2017, musicals featured in REWRITES include: Jeezus! By Sergio Antonio Maggiolo, Ballad Lines by Finn Anderson and Tania Azevedo, Half Man Half Bull by Wright & Grainger, Chosen by Taiya Yoshida & Dominic Varney, Nel’s Place by Sheep Soup, No Miracles Here by The Letter Room, A Super Happy Story (About Feeling Sad) by Jon Brittain and Matthew Floyd Jones (Kathy & Stella) and Snowflake by Lewis Cornay. The award-winning West End and Broadway musical Operation Mincemeat started out at a scratch event as part of REWRITES.
REWRITES platforms normally take place twice a year in Spring and Autumn. Our next opportunity is Autumn 2027. Dates TBC.

Young Creatives is a friendly place for people ages 13 – 17 to explore all things ‘behind the scenes’ at a theatre! This is an opportunity to try new things, make new friends, and see shows together.
Workshops are entry-level and will be a mix of creative and social sessions with fun crafts, games and activities. There will also be workshops in some of the following areas:
The Northern Stage team and guest artists will give you a basic introduction to each of these areas, with an opportunity to try an activity in each discipline.
Applications are open throughout the term but may close if spaces are filled.
