Our 9-month Young Artist Programme is one of the most respected opera training opportunities for singers in the world. Each year, we select 12 exceptional singers to join this intensive, full-time programme based at our home in London. Young Artists receive world-class training across every aspect of operatic life, equipping them with the musical, artistic, physical, psychological, and professional tools needed for long-term success in the industry

Paid professional training for emerging repetiteurs preparing for work in opera. This 9-month long training programme supports repetiteurs with advanced coaching, collaborative practice, and real-world experience. Each year, we offer intensive, high-quality training to four exceptional repetiteurs as part of our Young Artist Programme based at our home in London. Our aim is to prepare them for the full spectrum of a modern repetiteur’s career, whether on stage, in the pit, or in the rehearsal room.
The programme focuses on building a comprehensive and practical skillset, equipping repetiteurs to meet the varied musical, technical, and collaborative challenges they will encounter professionally.
At the beginning of the year, each Young Artist’s existing repertoire and experience are carefully assessed to identify areas for development. From this, we design a tailored training structure that ensures broad and balanced exposure to operatic repertoire spanning different styles and periods. Throughout the year, Young Artists work with a diverse range of music, with particular emphasis on filling any gaps in their knowledge and practical experience.

There is no upper age limit for applying to NOS. However, applicants are reminded that the Young Artist Programme is very intensive and is intended for singers and repetiteurs who are at the beginning of their professional operatic careers. Although it is not a formal requirement, applicants are expected to have significant performance experience and to have been training, in some form, for a number of years.

The Leodis Prize is a bold initiative to spotlight previously unrepresented writers.
A major new opportunity for aspiring playwrights. No other theatre award in the UK offers representation, full production and publication.
Leodis will again produce the winning entry at Fringe 2027 and the play will be published by Methuen Drama, as well as offering a fully paid writing residency at a producing theatre – keep an eye on our socials for updates on this.

Last years winning entry – ‘Sanctuary’ by Jacob Sparrow — was a huge success and received universal critical acclaim. The production received enormous critical acclaim with over 20 reviews getting four and five stars.
Guidelines:
We welcome all scripts submissions for this award and are not setting strict criteria relating to numbers of characters, form, structure and length in order to allow writers the freedom to submit a script as they intend it to be presented.
However it is worth bearing in mind that the premier of this work will take place in Edinburgh at the Fringe, the challenges of which has a tendency to shape the work that is presented for better or worse. Edinburgh Fringe audiences have come to expect show around 60-70 minutes in length without an interval, but we have presented vastly longer and shorter pieces in the past - we will always look at ways that we can facilitate longer or more ambitious work and meet the challenges that they pose.

Write Night is a series of monthly sessions for anyone interested in writing for the stage.
Sessions are on the first Wednesday evening of every month, run by Soho Theatre’s own iconic Bombay-born, London-based Creative Associate Pooja Sivaraman (Clean Break, Theatre503, Coney) and award winning Walthamstow playwright Sonali Bhattacharyya (Bristol Old Vic, Young Vic, Chichester Festival Theatre, Donmar Warehouse, BBC)
Whether you’re a total beginner or a more experienced writer, Write Night is open to everyone!
Each session will be organised around a theme and you can book them as standalone sessions, or you can book the whole lot! Totally up to you.

A workshop looking at how theatre troupes around the world use the stage as a medium of protest. What are the tools to keep in hand when you’re writing about something that makes you angry?
Wed 4 Nov 7pm-9pm: Rap, Rhyme and Musical theatre
A workshop all about how to write lyrics and rhyme for musicals and gig theatre
Wed 2 Dec 7pm-9pm: Writing is Rewriting
A workshop on the redrafting process and how to crack pivotal scenes
