Throughout the course, you will learn the fundamentals of acting and further your knowledge of theatre as a whole. You will have various opportunities to perform in productions and events during the year, which will require you to attend rehearsals and performances outside of normal college hours.

You will begin your first year of study and then once successfully completed you will progress to your second year, which is equivalent to three A Levels.

You will develop skills in acting techniques, performing arts business, dance performance, musical theatre, performing with masks, storytelling, scriptwriting and improvisation. You will get the chance to demonstrate your learning in our regular performing arts showcases and acting shows throughout the year - culminating in an end-of-year musical - as well as working with industry partners such as Zoonation Dance Company, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre and Vamos.

In addition, to enhance your learning, you will complete 30 hour of work experience or work-related activities during the course.

The UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Performing and Production Arts is a one year course, equivalent to four GCSEs, and is a foundation for students who wish to pursue a career in performing arts.

You will develop skills in acting techniques, performing arts business, dance performance and musical theatre, and will have regular opportunities to demonstrate your learning as part of our performing arts showcases and acting shows throughout the year.

In addition, to enhance your learning, you will complete 30 hours work experience or work-related activities throughout the course.

If you are passionate about performing live and gaining the knowledge to work within the music industry, then the Level 3 in Music Performance is the right course for you. While studying at college, you will learn about the music industry, music theory and performance.

You will develop your performance skills by undertaking a number of performance projects culminating in a series of live public performances. This course is one or two years long; following completion of year one (Level 3 Diploma in Music Performance and production) you can progress to year 2 to achieve the full Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production.

This qualification forms part of a complete programme which will help to develop the necessary skills and knowledge required to succeed in the wider world of work.

If you want to be a music artist or a producer then you can kick- start your career with the Music Technology Level 3 course. You will study elements of music technology, sampling and synthesis, alongside recording and mixing skills. Working in our state-of-the-art facilities at our Roland Academy, you will learn how to use industry standard equipment and technology.

You will have the opportunity to work as technical crew on performances within College, supporting artists from the music performance courses. You will also have the opportunity to mix, record and release songs.

This course is one or two years long; following completion of year one (Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Music Technology) you can progress to year 2 to achieve the full Level 3 Extended Diploma.

At Mechanics’ Performing Arts we deliver a full time Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Dance that is designed to train performers, choreographers and dance practitioners at a higher level for those who wish to pursue a career within the dance industry.

This course provides professional dance training in Commercial, Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Choreography, Conditioning and community dance teaching. After this course many of our graduates convert this qualification into a BA Hons by studying a further years training of a BA Top Up course. Many of our graduates decide to continue studying at Mechanics’ Performing Arts to study on to further study their own tailor made BA Hons Top Up Degree in Performance Industries.
