COURSE CONTENT AND DELIVERY

Study takes place over three 12-week terms a year for three years. Students work in small classes and receive over 25 hours of direct teaching time each week, including one-to-one singing lessons.

The course is delivered through classes, projects, workshops and performance opportunities. During the course students engage in a range of performance projects, including Shakespeare, contemporary plays and musicals. The first half of each term is devoted to skills classes whilst in the second half of each term these skills are applied to performance projects.

In the second year, skills are further explored in collaboration classes which include peer integration and team teaching to enhance your creativity and help you to make connections between subjects.

Additionally, there is time given to tailored ‘surgeries’ to focus on detail and help develop independence and confidence in each individual’s practice.

Mountview’s vocational BA actor training will thoroughly prepare you for a career in theatre, TV, film and recorded arts.

The course develops technical acting skills through a combination of workshops and performances. Classes are designed to inspire imaginative engagement and develop practical experience, encouraging students to take risks, develop strengths and expand their acting range.

his Dance and Musical Theatre course is a two-year vocational programme that equips you for a career in the performing arts industry.

During your studies you will have specialist training in dance, singing and acting to develop a well-versed range of skills including Musical Theatre, voice, script work, Ballet, Jazz, and Contemporary. This course will focus on strengthening both technical and performance abilities through practical classes and live performance opportunities.

Our campus boasts an impressive range of facilities including a dance studio with sprung Harlequin flooring, a fully equipped theatre space with state-of-the-art lighting and sound equipment, plus an additional three rehearsal studios for you to use while you study with us.

This qualification offers learners the opportunity to develop their musical theatre and dance skills over their course of study through a process of self-evaluation, practice and review, which are key skills for progression to higher education. The qualification also supports learners in building their own choreography portfolio in preparation for entry to employment in the performing industry or higher education. Learners should always check the entry requirements for degree programmes with the higher education providers that are offering them.

Acting for stage and screen, do you have a passion for Acting this highly practical course will give you training in both stage and screen acting to become a versatile employable actor. Maybe you dream of directing or writing your own scripts. Throughout the course students will experience a wide variety of performance styles whilst working under our theatre company INSPIRE.

This Level 3 National Foundation Diploma & Extended Diploma in Performing Arts Practice (Acting) is a Study Programme  which, if successful, leads to the 90 credit qualification over one year and progression to the full 180 credit qualification over 2 years. If you are interested in a career in Acting and want an A level equivalent course which offers training in all aspects of Acting, our course could be the right choice for you. It will provide you with a strong foundation for progression into Drama schools, higher education or a career within the performing arts or entertainment, leisure or communications industries.

This course is free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 2 qualification.

If you're aged 19+ you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of the course.

This course provides skills and knowledge in all aspects of theatre and performance and can be used to progress into higher level study, or as a foundation for your future career. It can provide you with the opportunity to study and develop skills in various aspects of performing arts through live performances and a range of projects you will not only develop your technical skills, but your performance skills too. The course will give you the opportunity to gain experience and an understanding of what is needed to become a performer. It will also help you decide whether you wish to study in industry, and prepare you for further training.

Our Level 1 Performing Arts Course is ideal for those who are looking for a career in this sector, to build on skills and knowledge to move on in your career path. You will work towards a BTEC Level 1 Diploma in vocational studies alongside Maths and English.

You will work on a range of units relating to Performing Arts alongside employability units, All work is portfolio based.

This course is free for 16-18yrs; for 19-23yrs, course is free if you have not achieved a full Level 1 qualification.

Have you developed a passion for theatre and performance through participating in school productions, attending youth theatre or taking a GCSE drama class? Level 2 Acting will help you take your performance skills further.

Throughout the course, you will learn the fundamentals of acting and further your knowledge of theatre as a whole. You will explore acting skills in a range of styles and genres, through scripted performance and devising. This exciting and confidence boosting course is a perfect start for aspiring actors. You will have various opportunities to perform in productions and events during the year, which will require you to attend rehearsals and performances outside of normal college hours.

If acting, singing, dancing, or theatre production is your passion then you can take the first steps to an exciting career by studying at City of Wolverhampton College. From performing on stage, TV or film to dancing or choreography, there are so many career and progression opportunities in this exciting, dynamic and creative industry, all of which we will prepare you for while studying with us.

You will begin your first year of study and then once successfully completed you will progress to your second year, which is equivalent to three A Levels.

You will develop skills in acting techniques, performing arts business, dance performance, musical theatre, performing with masks, storytelling, scriptwriting and improvisation. You will get the chance to demonstrate your learning in our regular performing arts showcases and acting shows throughout the year - culminating in an end-of-year musical - as well as working with industry partners such as Zoonation Dance Company, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre and Vamos.

In addition, to enhance your learning, you will complete 30 hour of work experience or work-related activities during the course.

The UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Performing and Production Arts is a one year course, equivalent to four GCSEs, and is a foundation for students who wish to pursue a career in performing arts.

You will develop skills in acting techniques, performing arts business, dance performance and musical theatre, and will have regular opportunities to demonstrate your learning as part of our performing arts showcases and acting shows throughout the year.

In addition, to enhance your learning, you will complete 30 hours work experience or work-related activities throughout the course.

If you are passionate about performing live and gaining the knowledge to work within the music industry, then the Level 3 in Music Performance is the right course for you. While studying at college, you will learn about the music industry, music theory and performance.

You will develop your performance skills by undertaking a number of performance projects culminating in a series of live public performances. This course is one or two years long; following completion of year one (Level 3 Diploma in Music Performance and production) you can progress to year 2 to achieve the full Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production.
