Theatr Clwyd is committed to supporting early career talent, and as an apprentice, you’ll be embedded in both our technical and theatre making teams to gain valuable, real-world experience in a live theatre setting.
A workshop for the politically engaged and perpetually exhausted. In the face of arts cuts, climate collapse, and rising authoritarianism, what does it mean to keep making political theatre?
Is it still a tool for change or just shouting into the void? This session creates space to reflect, rant, and reimagine: to swap strategies, share frustrations, and ask what resistance looks like onstage today.
All ticket sales will be donated to WarChild. The workshop will take place on June 22nd at Riverside Studios, 1:30pm - 3:30pm.
About Sam Rees:

The Cultural Learning and Participation Officer Apprenticeship provides hands-on experience, mixing practical and administrative work with college learning underpinning your experiences.
Over the course of the Apprenticeship you will gain professional experience in arts administration, practical workshop delivery, project management and leadership, and will receive on-going mentoring and coaching from the Learning, Education and Participation (LEAP) Team and Chichester College staff. You will predominately support the Children and Young People strand of the LEAP programme.
You will work towards completing a formal apprenticeship in Cultural Learning and Participation, which is celebrated and monitored throughout the role in a portfolio of work, culminating in an End-Point Assessment.
On successful completion of the course you will be qualified to enter Higher Education to pursue a Higher National Diploma or Degree course
We offer Art and Design Level 4 and HND Photography alongside Solihull College & University Centre. You will also develop the necessary skills to enter the workplace or an apprenticeship should you choose to do so. You could even become a freelance designer or animator.
The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Photography provides you with the skill, knowledge and visual understanding to succeed in this exciting and challenging industry. Our course gives you the opportunity to develop a wide range of technical skills on basic and advanced camera skills and full use of manual mode, skills in Adobe Photoshop, film-based photography, documentary, portraiture, studio, still life, darkroom, location lighting and fashion photography and more. We also help you develop visual awareness and attributes essential for employment in the industry or progression to Higher Education. Visits to local and national galleries form an important part of the course, and you are encouraged to take part in competitions, live briefs and exhibitions.
This is an ideal first qualification in Art and Design, which could lead to employment or further education. It allows you to re-take your GCSE in English and Maths while building up your Level 2 grade profile so you can progress to further studies at Level 3.
This Level 2 course is based on practical assignments which often involve educational trips and gallery visits, giving you the opportunity to develop skills in a range of Art and Design-related areas including: 2D and 3D mixed media, ceramics, graphic design, photography, art-based moving images, textiles, painting and drawing skills.
This exciting course provides an exceptional opportunity for anyone drawn to the world of theatre
You will explore the back-stage and on-stage disciplines of theatre. With a strong emphasis on personal creativity, the course provides a unique view of performance and production. It is a rewarding alternative to the traditional ‘A’ Level route. Equivalent to 3 ‘A’ Levels, it links theoretical preparation in lectures and workshops with practical classes.
Based on the idea of repertory theatre, students undertake public performances and musical/dance showcases. Students have been prize winners in the Northern Ireland Inter College Performing Arts Competitions.
The course is based in the Foyle Theatre complete with dressing rooms, costume store, stage craft and property workshops. AV equipment are of the highest professional standard. Whether working back-stage or performing onstage, you will gain an invaluable insight into the world of theatre and develop professional skills in both public performance and technical support.

Drama in the School of Arts and Humanities provides an exciting and challenging programme with an emphasis on contemporary performance practices. Our approach to teaching and learning integrates theories and practices of performance in order to extend our understanding of Drama as an art form in its social, political and cultural contexts.
Our expert lecturing staff are internationally-recognised researchers with a range of industry-related experience. Students are able to take advantage of our nationally-acknowledged teaching expertise and will have opportunities to extend their experience of contemporary performance practices through contact with part-time staff and key visiting lecturers. The Drama programmes benefit from extensive links with theatre practitioners and key Irish theatre companies, who use our spaces for performances and delivering practice-based workshops.
Drama allows students to learn in a rigorous and stimulating environment where they are encouraged to develop essential skills as thinking creative practitioners.
