Malvern Theatres are recruiting for a technical apprentice to work in the technical department at the theatre.
The work will be varied and will include all aspects of technical theatre within the department, which will cover lighting, sound and stage. Both internal and external training will be provided, leading to a level 3 qualification.
You will support the Technical Director with the day to day running of the Malvern Theatres complex. You will follow the training provided by Creative Alliance on their Production Creative Venue Technician Apprenticeship.

On successful completion of this introductory course you will gain a great idea of what is involved in performing arts and music. You can use it to move up to courses such as Level 2 Diploma in Skills for Performing Arts or Skills for Music & Music Technology, or other level 2 qualifications.

Throughout this one year course you will study a variety of music and performing arts skills as well as an introduction to music technology units. These include working in the performing arts, performance skills, acting, dance and music skills, performance workshops and employability skills.

Full-time courses are fully funded for 16 to 18-year-olds. For age 19+, various funding options are available.
Studying A Level Dance will see you learn about leading practitioners in the dance field including the Rambert Dance Company.
You’ll also develop your choreographic ability with solo and group pieces and learn repertoire in groups to perform.
Throughout the course, you’ll learn to enhance your analytical abilities to examine professional dance works and an area of dance history for written exams.
Visits to the theatre are essential to support the development of your dance analysis and you will watch live professional dance works by leading touring companies such as Rambert, Motionhouse or Matthew Bourne.
We will also visit the Move It conference in March to support industry development and progression.

The Performing Arts National Extended Certificate is a 2 year course equivalent to 1 A Level. It is aimed at developing skills in all of the disciplines associated with the Performing Arts - theatre, music and dance - both as an audience member and as a performer. You will study a combination of practice and theory in order to develop your academic and performing skills to a high level, and you will learn how to improvise performance and interpret texts as well as understand how performances are produced, directed and choreographed. You will develop conceptual understanding as well as team working skills.
This course aims to provide opportunities for students to develop a wide range of performance skills in music, drama, dance and a range of genres. It will develop your understanding of how performers work and how performance has evolved over time, as well as all aspects of the production of a performance - as performers, producers and the audience.

This BTEC is studied with 2 other A Levels or Level 3 BTEC equivalent. One of the other A levels should be in the Performing Arts area, specifically Drama, Dance, Music Performing, or Music Technology, other good combinations are Film Studies, Textiles, Fine Art, Graphics, Photography, English Literature and Media Studies.
