The level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Performing & Production Arts, Musical Theatre is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in industry.
This course will provide you with the opportunity to explore, acting, dance and singing techniques within a qualification structure which is stimulating, demanding and supportive. Producing performance work within our professional standard performance venue.
You will undergo an extensive programme of training which will equip you for working within a range of performance situations. Each project is designed to give you an insight into the professional world of the performing arts. Throughout your course you will develop a ‘toolkit’ of essential skills and techniques as a foundation to your professional performance work.
The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Foundation/Extended Diploma in Performing Arts Practice (Acting Pathway) is a course designed to be studied over two years and aims to support progression to a range of sector-related degrees with the goal of leading to higher education and employment in performing arts.
During this practical and varied course, students will cover a range of acting and performance skills, contextual activities related to theatre arts and will also be given the opportunity to be involved in public performances. It will provide students with an understanding of performing arts through engagement with techniques, the work of practitioners, industry conventions and community projects. The method of learning is a mixture of both tutor led and practical sessions and the qualification combines practical and theory-based assignments.
Those enrolled on the course will study a range of different acting and performance styles as well as advancing their technical proficiency and development of performance for different audiences. There will also be a focus on enhancing their ability to carry out independent research to further their knowledge and understand plays, characters, key drama & theatre practitioners and the performing arts industry in general. This will culminate with a final performance at the end of each year, researched, devised and delivered by the students. The course will also prepare students for next steps, such as auditioning for drama/stage schools and university.
The course is taught by subject specialists, and you will be working both independently and in small groups, utilising our state of the art facilities. There may also be opportunities for students to attend external performances or workshops with local theatres. The course offers a unique opprtunity to tour in local schools, working with key stakeholders and external organisations.
You will cover a wide range of music production and technology activities. Developing knowledge of all the major software, access to state of the art studio equipment and experience of live sound, studio recording and computer based music. This is a practical course and includes both tutor and student led sessions, performances and theory-based assignments. Level 3 Music Performance & Production is a practical course including a portfolio of production work and theory based assignments. Practical elements include use of audio production facilities, learning industry standard DAW (digital audio software) including Apple Mac & PC software, keyboard lab & Music theory for Production, workshops in schools and supporting gigs in performance venues (both in house and externally) . This course provides an opportunity to compose music, work with and perform at live gigs and work in the professionally equipped Studios . The College has strong links with the local Music Community, Studio & Producers, the Royal & Derngate and the Roadmender. The method of learning is by a mixture of academic and practical sessions.

Level 3 Music Performance and Production is a very practically based course including a portfolio of performances and theory based assignments.
Practical elements include use of audio production facilities, practice booths, Apple Mac & PC software, keyboard lab and gigs in performance venue (both in house and externally) . This course gives the opportunity to perform live gigs and record a demo. The College has strong links with the local Music Community, the Royal & Derngate and the Roadmender. The method of learning is by a mixture of academic and practical sessions.

Prospective students should be aware that employment in the music industry as a performer is extremely demanding and requires a high level of skill and commitment.
On completion of the course, you will achieve a level 3 UAL Diploma or Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production.
This course covers a wide range of hair and media make-up treatments. The method of learning is a mixture of practical and theory sessions. Your course may include one late night a week.
