This dynamic and intensive course takes place across four terms in a full calendar year. It is designed for those aged 21 and over who can discover and realise their potential as a creative artist over a year of training. You will be taught in group classes, developing your professionalism, collaboration and technical skill through ensemble learning and individual tutorials.

We expect you to be bold and fearless in your willingness to understand yourself and be prepared to be open and curious whilst experimenting with new methods of working. Throughout your training you will have opportunities to collaborate with leading directors, writers and producers.

The year culminates in London where you will perform in London venues to the public and to an invited industry audience. On completion of the course, you will be awarded Equity membership.

This course is a stepping stone into employment, university or dance school. You will gain the skills and knowledge to become competent, confident and innovative in your approach to your chosen career path. As part of the course, you will become part of our in-house performance company, Fleet Street Studios, leading and managing all projects. 

You will have the opportunity to take on performance roles in a variety of shows, including musicals, ballet, dance, music gigs, fashion shows and conferences. You will also have the chance to undertake work experience with reputable providers which will help you build up your industry contacts.

We also work with professional performers and companies within the industry to provide excellent work experience and workshop opportunities for dancers and actors. These include Amy Dowden from Strictly Come Dancing, Vanhulle Dance Theatre, Ellis Theatre Arts, Flexus Dance Company, Imagine Ballet, Scare Acting, One Dance UK, National Adventure Farm, Alton Towers, Derby Theatre and The Brewhouse.

If you’re interested in the creative industries and in particular sound production, this course is a great place to start.

This is an exciting and hugely popular course aimed at creative types who like a bit of tech. Incorporating an NPA qualification, it will give you basic skills in sound production and a great foundation for further study.

You’ll learn using world class equipment and the latest industry software, including Pro Tools, Ableton and MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) sequencing. Your assessments will be based on real-life products in post and music production, in a variety of genres.

The main focus of the course is on sound design, and sound engineering and production.

- You’ll look at sound design in visual media and will develop skills in collecting and using sound elements for a visual media sequence, such as one used for a computer game, animation or multi-media presentation.
- You’ll develop practical and creative sound engineering and production skills in using multi-track recording equipment to record and mix different sources of audio.
- You’ll also look at the different sectors within the creative industries and the range of jobs available. We’ll help you develop your own skills for employment too.
- You’ll build transferable Essential Skills in meaningful contexts to help you become more effective in life, learning, and work. This could be communication, numeracy, ICT, working with others, and problem solving.

Almost all students as part of their bursary funding, will receive a production bundle of equipment including microphones, digital recorders and high end headphones when they join and succeed in this course.
