These pathways are tailored for emerging Directors, Choreographers, Musical Directors, Designers, Lighting Designers, Stage Managers, Wardrobe Assistants and Technicians aged 16 to 23 who are in training or recently graduated from Higher Education.
Applications are open for 2025. There is £25 application fee which gives access to preparatory online sessions, offering skill building and group mentorship. Following these sessions you will have the opportunity to apply for a specific role on a production.

If you’re serious about a career in makeup artistry, our 4-Month Hair and Makeup Course is the perfect choice.
Led by award-winning makeup designers at CBMA Makeup Academy in London, this intensive, hands-on program covers everything from beauty makeup to special effects (SFX) techniques. You’ll work closely with industry professionals to master the essential skills needed for film, TV, and fashion. By the end of this course, you’ll be ready to create a wide range of looks, from classic beauty to intricate special effects, giving you the tools to launch your makeup artistry career.
This advanced specialist course is for artistic students who wish to work as a hair and make-up artist within the TV, film, theatre or fashion industries.
Your study programme will cover the following units:
You will develop creative sketchbook work which will be presented on your own online blog which can then be used as your professional portfolio on completion of the course. The blog will demonstrate your research and design process as part of your assessments; written assignments also form a portion of this qualification, as well as practical assessments and regular self-assessment and evaluation.
You will also be required to purchase the hair and make-up kit that supports your study using professional brands and products currently used in industry (Kryolan). You will be required to take part in a range of work experience placements and off-site trips related to your course.
School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies.

This course is designed for students wanting to pursue a career as an employed or self-employed Makeup Artist, providing hair and makeup services in the media, theatre, fashion and photographic industries.
You’ll develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to plan for and provide make up applications, hair preparations services, fashion and editorial make up with extended knowledge in face and body art. This will enable you to produce an overall total look and participate in competition work.
Those aged 19 or over may not need to pay fees depending on their circumstances.

This course will allow you to develop the knowledge and skills you need to start your career within the Production Arts industry.
The course covers all essential skills you need to start your career. It is a mix of course work and in-depth practical workshop sessions, with work experience alongside. We have close links with local theatres and brands to help you gain hands on experience.
Previous Hair & Make-up experience is not required for this course. You will have the opportunity to explore and develop your skills starting with the basics to build knowledge, confidence and improve practical techniques. All we ask is for a passion to join the industry and dedication throughout the programme.
This programme is a two-year course for 16-18 years of age with the option of one-year for students 18 years of age on completion.
Our introductory training course covering HDTV, film and theatre makeup and hair, along with hairdressing and barbering techniques.
Learn the essential skills you need to carve out a career as a professional makeup artist with our Foundation Certificate course. You’ll cover all the areas that you need to start your journey as a makeup and hair artist capable of working on film, TV and theatre productions.
Throughout this full time 14 week course you’ll gain an understanding of the key skills required by any makeup artist, from understanding the basics of makeup application, to creating inspired period and character looks and gory special effects. This course also includes experience working with facial hair application, body painting and basic barbering.
Our course tutors are extremely passionate about their industry, and you will learn from their endless knowledge. They have many years’ experience working on some of the best known films and TV productions in recent years. They will introduce you to the latest products and techniques that are relevant to today’s industry, so you can be sure you will be learning from the best.
Holidays of one to four weeks may be scheduled during your course at appropriate times and, therefore, the duration of your time with us could last from 15 to 18 weeks.
Theatrical Media Make-Up is an exciting career for people who are creative and have a passion for hair and beauty in the performance and media industries. It is a competitive career but with the right skills, experience and hard work you can open up a world of opportunities.
On this course you'll be introduced to the artistry of hair, make-up and special effects make-up for the stage. Working closely with our Performing Arts department and through external work experience you will develop and refine your creative skills and build your portfolio of work.
