house southeast theatre network is bringing Pitch Up to London, with a focus on supporting early career theatre artists.
Hosted by Stanley Arts, Pitch Up: Beginning will help demystify the theatre industry for early career theatre artists new to connecting with venues; helping artists to understand how venues work, learn about their artist support offer, and collaborate effectively.
house will be joined by venue representatives from London and the South East including: Cambridge Junction; The Garage, Norwich; Colchester Arts Centre; Norwich Theatres; artsdepot; Stanley Arts; Chichester Festival Theatre ; Farnham Maltings and Queen's Theatre Hornchurch who will share their artist support offer, before giving the floor over to up to 20 early career artists to give a snapshot of their work and plans.
In the afternoon, there will be two panel discussions, with industry leaders, on taking work to venues and a practical guide to marketing and selling your show.
If you are a freelancer and there's a cost barrier to you attending Pitch Up, house have a limited number of bursaries to offer as a contribution towards your usual day rate. You will find more details on the application form.

Introducing The Youth Theatre Together Map!

Guildford Opera Company is looking for a stage manager on the book to prompt lighting cues for our production of 'Lucia di Lamermor'. You would work with the stage director and lighting technician during production week to deliver lighting states for a live opera performance, and would be required to attend some rehearsals during November to familiarise yourself with the score and lighting cues.
The performance will take place in St Nicolas' Church, Bury Sreet, Guildford during w/b 30 November to 5 December. Technical and dress rehearsals will take place 1 December (evening) and 2 December (afternoon), and performances will be 3 - 5 December (curtain up 7 pm 3-4 December and 6pm 5 December).

Join Hannah Smith, Executive Producer at The Wardrobe Ensemble, to understand the practical steps to starting and running a theatre company.
This session will cover the practical steps of registering your company, statuary obligations (including yearly company accounts). It will also share Hannah's reflections on the opportunities (such as funding streams) and challenges that running a company may bring.
This mid-career masterclass aims to demystify the process of setting up and running a theatre company; supporting freelancers to make an informed decision about whether establishing a company is the right next step in their career. The session will culminate in a Q&A.

After the announcement of its closure, Forest Forge has allocated remaining funds to support local artists and organisations with grants of between £500 – £5,000.
In 2026 Forest Forge Theatre Company announced its closure after 45 years of making and touring theatre in the New Forest. As the journey comes to an end, the team are eager to support artists and cultural community organisations in the New Forest via some small commissions. We hope that by providing small pots of funding we can support sustainability and can seed fund new ideas.
We have ringfenced some of our remaining funds to support local artists and organisations with grants of between £500 – £5,000. We anticipate making between 5 – 10 Forge Ahead Commission grants.
Projects should deliver activity within one of our three areas of activity:
We are also especially excited to support projects and ideas that complement the Forest Forge ethos; those that are playful, heartfelt, joyful and irreverent.
Funds can be used for any number of costs including artist fees, travel, room hire, materials, marketing, training and can be used as match funding.

Join our Artistic Director Nuna Sandy to learn about Affinity Groups at Company Three: spaces for young people to come together with artists who share an identity, and to creatively explore that together.
Nuna will share Company Three's journey and approach to this work, and some tips for setting up your own Affinity Groups and making work about identity, led and owned by the teenagers involved.

Practitioners working with teenagers are meeting increasingly complex needs. The Youth Theatre Census 2024 highlighted young people's mental health as one of the sector's biggest challenges, and many youth theatres are now offering far more pastoral support than ever before.
Wellbeing and care is central to Company Three's practice - it's fundamental that young people can feel appreciated, safe and have fun in all our sessions.

Workshop Details:
This is a practical workshop with time to apply exercises and trial learning with the group. Everyone will leave with a toolkit of practical exercises, information and feedback, created in collaboration with the cohort to support in your co-creation journey.
This is a course for people who work with young people and want to provide space and co-create with young people in a wide range of disciplines. As practitioners it’s important we keep learning, growing and being curious. If you want a space to playfully discover or rediscover your practice when looking at co-creation, this is the course for you.

We deliver courses because we think it's important to share practice and provide spaces for artists to grow and learn.
As a charity, we rely on the income from our training courses to sustain and grow our work with young people. This course has been carefully developed through years of practice and reflection at Company Three, drawing on the expertise and experience of our skilled facilitators. Every payment made for this course directly supports our work with young people.
The full price of this course is £250, but we offer a number of subsidised options to make it accessible to as many people as possible.
