This is an online training course. It is used within the Theatre industry to develop drawings for a range of different uses. If you want to be able to create entertainment-focused drawing, modelling and rendering this course is for you.

Vectorworks Spotlight is the entertainment industry-leading software that’s an all-in-one design, documentation and production solution. With an extensive suite of entertainment-focused drawing, modelling and rendering tools, Spotlight can produce detailed paperwork and presentations. Create an immersive experience with cutting-edge technology like virtual and augmented reality and rendered panoramas.

A special trial version of the software can be downloaded enabling students who don’t have the software to access the course.

The course is specifically tailored to the needs of users in a theatrical and live events environment, it consists of seven parts and is structured so you can create simple drawings after Part 1. The course will provide you with a foundation of skills, allowing you use the program straight away and build your knowledge. The course should take approximately 24 hours to complete, this will vary from person to person as it structured to allow you to you work at your own pace.

Our aim is to make opera accessible to you.
Under 21? Get free opera tickets to see all ENO performances and sit anywhere in the theatre.

If you're 5-15 years old:
All 5-15 year olds must be accompanied by a full-paying adult.
Each full-paying adult gets up to two free child opera tickets per production.

If you're 16-20 years old, join our Under 35s membership scheme.

Once you have joined, you’ll get an email with a special discount code so you can access your free opera ticket (you are entitled to one free ticket per production) when you’re logged into your account.

We currently run FREE youth theatre groups for young people aged 8 and above.

Through participation in arts activity, young people develop skills that are useful for a career in theatre, but are also useful in real-life contexts; building confident, articulate young citizens with an active interest in the world around them.

Groups by age:

8 to 11 years: Junior Youth Theatre
11 to 16 years: Middle Youth Theatre / Asian Youth Theatre / Black Youth Theatre / Spon End Youth Theatre
14 to 22 years: Backstage Youth
16 – 21 years: Senior Youth Theatre

At Open Door, our Behind the Scenes Access Programme supports participants aged 17-30 who are passionate about a career in Technical Theatre and Productions Arts and who want to apply to study at one of our partner schools. Technical Theatre and Productions Arts careers can include the likes of scenic art, theatre technology, set construction, costume construction, prop-making, set/costume design and more!

Our current partner schools are Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, LAMDA, Royal Welsh College of Music, and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. We can give you the support you need to approach your interviews with confidence, knowing that you have benefited from the advice and mentoring from our selected industry professionals.

We welcome students and anyone who wants to gain experience in theatre production.

Anyone getting involved should be aged over 16 (to the sky's the limit) and able to attend our rehearsals and meetings in Brixham. Placements will involved working on specific theatre shows in either the rehearsal or show run, and unless otherwise formally agreed, will be on a strictly voluntary basis. 

We are happy for students to get involved either for a fixed number of rehearsals, or for an entire show run. 

We may also be able to offer technical mentorship via our venue partners.
