There is an ever-increasing demand for performers who combine first-rate acting ability with a high level of musicianship.
Mountview’s Actor Musician course develops these dual skills to the highest level, creating graduates who combine skills in acting and music in their professional lives.
Whilst a high level of prior musical experience is a pre-requisite, it is not necessary to have achieved formal music qualifications.
There are limited places available each year and students are taught in small groups. Teaching mirrors Mountview’s actor training but with specialised music elements and you’ll receive over 30 hours of direct teaching time each week including one-to-one singing and instrumental lessons.
The course develops technical skills through workshops and performance opportunities. During the course you’ll engage in a range of actor musician projects, working on Shakespeare, contemporary plays, and musicals as well as devising original work. Students engage with a range of classic and contemporary texts for example If You Don’t Let Us Dram, We Won’t Let You Sleep by Anders Lustgarten, Colder Than Here by Laura Wade, His Dark Materials adaptation by Nicholas Wright, Flora the Red Menace by George Abbott, Kander and Ebb, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris by Mort Shuman and Eric Blau.
Study takes place over three 12-week terms a year.
The first half of each term is devoted to skills classes whilst in the second half of each term you will work on performance projects which are presented in-house to fellow students and staff.
In the second year you apply your skills in collaboration classes which include peer integration and team teaching to enhance your creativity and help you to make connections between subjects. Additionally, there is time given to tailored ‘surgeries’ to focus on detail and help you to develop your independence and confidence in your practice.
You’ll also work closely with Mountview’s Industry Liaison Manager to understand and prepare for life as a working actor.
The focus of the third year is film, recorded voice, public performances and reflecting on acting practice. You’ll work with professional directors to present a range of productions and an industry showcase and create a voice and film showreel. Audiences include agents, casting directors and other industry figures as well as the general public.
This 18+ programme provides a broad base of professional training in ballet, contemporary dance, jazz dance and musical theatre, with in-depth development of specialist skills, educating quality performers who graduate into all areas of the performing arts.
Performance opportunities are built into the curriculum throughout all three years, ranging from informal, in-house presentations of work to full evening performances at major London venues and elsewhere across the UK.
Technical training and performance are combined with creative practice and choreography, as well as intellectually-challenging theory and research. Students are enabled to think critically about dance, enhancing their understanding of the industry and their development as performers and practitioners. Studies include anatomy, and the ever-changing history and culture of dance – from ballet to Beyoncé.
LSC’s programme enables students to take increased ownership of their own training path, whilst producing dance artists who have the versatility to work in a wide range of fields. Graduates may be found performing in international dance companies, West End and Broadway shows, on film and television; also, they achieve successful and sustainable careers in choreography, directing, arts management and education.

It helps you identify how you want to express yourself as an artist and it will empower you to trust your unique path, training the actors and artists of the future! You will connect with exciting theatre makers and directors from across the UK and London, giving you an opportunity to make connections beyond LAMDA, as well as learn from LAMDA practitioners and alumni who are making their own work and will share their experiences as artists with you
Every Module has been conceived in collaboration with associated artists, LAMDA practitioners and LAMDA alumni. Our approach to the training is to create equitable, non hierarchical and empowering rehearsal rooms in which it is safe to challenge each other, challenge pre-conceived ideas of what the responsibility of actors as artists and storytellers might be, whilst always championing accountability, professionalism and discipline within the ensemble.
Each module within the course will have its own structure, depending on the specialism you’ll be exploring. Throughout the intensive six months, you will receive core skills training in voice, acting, movement and music until you begin your final rehearsal to performance module.
MOUNTVIEW’S PART TIME FOUNDATION IN MUSICAL THEATRE COVERS THE CORE ELEMENTS OF TRIPLE THREAT TRAINING: ACTING, SINGING AND DANCE.
With classes taking place three evenings per week students are able to work alongside their studies to support themselves financially. This ability to work combined with competitive course fees makes this one of the most accessible Musical Theatre Foundation courses in the UK.
The course promises a rigorous introduction to the performance skills required in the musical theatre discipline. The training is equally focussed on acting, singing and dance with a balance of 40% skills, 35% audition preparation and 25% performance-based work.
Demands on the students are high and the course will develop core technique and creativity and prepare students for further training and auditions.
The training includes a focused audition preparation module allowing students to develop technique and repertoire for future drama school auditions.
The course is taught from September to April, with 9 hours each week over three evenings.
Are you an international actor looking to deepen and develop your craft through an intensive exploration of classical plays?
This intensive masters degree in acting is delivered through an inspiring and exhilarating programme of classwork, scene study and workshop performances, culminating in a shared performance in our largest performance space, The Sainsbury Theatre.
Working on plays from the Shakespearean, Jacobean, Spanish Golden Age, French classical and Restoration periods you will discover how classical theatre translates across centuries, cultures and languages, and build an awareness of their historical, political and social context, and their impact on modern theatre.
You will take classes in craft skills to develop and strengthen your existing abilities and prepare you for the rehearsal process. Delivered throughout the year in long modules, these will include acting (voice, textual analysis and contextual studies), movement, music and singing.
You will progress through the application of your acquired knowledge of both theory and practice as it relates to the intelligent exploration and development of original characters. And you will also complete a thesis presentation reflecting on the relationship between your classical training and contemporary theatre practice.
Your intensive year will culminate in the staging of a Shakespeare production to which agents and casting directors are invited.

This masters degree in acting provides rigorous, world-class conservatoire training combined with industry-level postgraduate project work. The course is open to those from any background, but especially for those who want to shake up the ecosystem of the creative skills industry, and use their abilities to challenge the status quo and shape new landscapes for dramatic art.
Mountview’s full-time Foundation-level training focuses on three key areas of artistic development: creativity, technique and readiness.
It is the equal focus on these three pillars that allows you to find and develop your own artistic identity and process.
The course is designed to prepare students to become creative artists as well as to develop the skills needed to embark on further vocational actor training.
The training includes a focused audition preparation module allowing students to develop technique and repertoire for future drama school auditions. Students receive 30 to 35 hours of direct teaching each week over two terms.
The course is made up of 55% skills training, including TV, film and radio, and 45% project and performance-based work.
This part-time evening Foundation course delivers the core elements of skills training while developing creativity and artistic identity.
Not everyone is in a position to commit to full-time training. With classes taking place three evenings per week this course enables students to study alongside their work. This structure, combined with competitive course fees, is one of the most accessible Foundation courses in the UK.
The course is taught from September to April over three evenings each week. You will receive nine hours of contact teaching each week for two terms.
Skills classes focus on the core discipline areas of acting, voice and movement and the course is a balance of 45% skills training, 30% audition preparation and 25% performance-based work.
While the course is part time in its delivery, its content, intensity and the demands on the student mirror its full-time counterpart. Students develop technique and repertoire for future drama school auditions.
