Musical Theatre and Dance are the key disciplines studied on this pathway and involve a rigorous and challenging study package to give you industry-standard skills needed to succeed. These skills include; jazz, contemporary, anatomy, body conditioning, drama analysis, devising your own work to singing and music theory.

This course offers a challenging and exciting exploration of classical and contemporary performance to give you the industry standard skills needed to progress into a Performing Arts career.

You will work towards small and large scale productions and take part in a range of industry experiences including public performance, competitions, workshops and theatre trips. You will study both practical and theoretical principles of acting, such as script work, devising and historical context of theatre, while working with tutors and peers to develop your skills and knowledge.

This innovative course will provide professional training enabling you to access a range of higher education and career options.

The full extended diploma is delivered over 2 years.

The Performing Arts Level 2: Acting pathway creates opportunities to explore, experiment and creatively engage in fun and challenging interactive games and exercises that enable you to improve confidence in acting, singing and dance skills. You will also learn about working in the industry, professional development, lighting for the stage and devising original material.

As part of the course you will perform in front of a live audience. Working with your class, you will develop a play to perform and be given the opportunity to work in schools and external venues. You will work on your creativity, highlighting your strengths and developing them further. This course is one year long.

This course gives you an overview of acting, physical theatre, production arts, dance and musical theatre. Focussing upon building a solid foundation in performing arts skills you will investigate vocal projection and clarity, working together, performance discipline, body language and different forms and genres of theatre that will inspire and challenge you. You will learn the skills for progressing to further levels and gain insight into the world of the performing arts.

If you want to be a music artist or a producer then you can kick- start your career with the Music Technology Level 3 course. You will study elements of music technology, sampling and synthesis, alongside recording and mixing skills. Working in our state-of-the-art facilities at our Roland Academy, you will learn how to use industry standard equipment and technology.

You will have the opportunity to work as technical crew on performances within College, supporting artists from the music performance courses. You will also have the opportunity to mix, record and release songs.

This course is one or two years long; following completion of year one (Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Music Technology) you can progress to year 2 to achieve the full Level 3 Extended Diploma.

Do you dream of a career performing on stage or perhaps you'd love to work behind the scenes helping run big theatre productions?

Our Level 2 course will expand upon your understanding of all elements of acting, dance and singing to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding to progress to further.

Students take part in several performances throughout the year including pantomime, musical showcases and with external partners as well as cultural trips and further enrichment.

The course and department also have strong links to Eleven Arches and Kynren, where it will be strongly recommended that you volunteer as part of your work placement for this course, due to the expansion of their project and possible employability in the near future.

Progression from this course is to Level 3 Performing Arts.
